WHIVA NORDIC

Women’s Health, Innovation, Ventures & Access

About the project

WHIVA Nordic addresses critical structural barriers in women’s health commercialization across southern Scandinavia. Historically, innovations in women’s health have faced systemic challenges, including a lack of sex-specific clinical evidence, complex and fragmented regulatory pathways, and restrictive investment conditions. WHIVA Nordic aims to dismantle these hurdles by creating a unified, cross-border commercialization framework that combines regulatory strategy, clinical documentation, and market access support across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, while promoting gender-equal, sustainable healthcare solutions.

The project is led by Medicon Valley Alliance and is co-financed by the EU program Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak (ÖKS).

Purpose

This joint initiative brings together key life science ecosystems in Sweden, Denmark and Norway to create a Nordic model designed to simplify market entry and scaleup for startups in women’s health.

Short description

The project will support 45 innovative companies working in women’s health by providing a coordinated Nordic pipeline designed to simplify market entry and scaleup. By offering specialized business advisory, capital access support, and training, the initiative strengthens regional innovation capacity with a focus on smart specialization, driving both cross-border value and global competitiveness.
