Pre-study on how to best support startups where tech meets med and bio
About the project
This pre-study aims to jointly map and understand the needs of startups, where tech meets med and bio, for guidance and matchmaking, as well as to identify which methods should be applied across different stages of company development, from problem–solution fit to product–market fit. The project is led by Ideon Science Park and co-financed by Vinnova, Sweden’s Innovation Agency.
Purpose
Many startups operate at the intersection of Life Science and Technology, forming a rapidly growing group with high disruptive innovation potential. However, they currently face a fragmented innovation system that lacks the combined expertise required to support their growth journey.
The purpose of this pre-study is to map these startups’ needs and develop prototype tools and methods tailored to their different development phases. The project aims to strengthen the development of advanced health solutions, promote growth and competitiveness in high-tech sectors, and increase the capacity of the innovation system.
Short description
The pre-study aims to map existing innovation support, assess the needs of participating incubators and entrepreneurs, and identify the most critical challenges in the early stages of company building. Tools and training modules will then be developed in close collaboration with the participating actors to ensure relevance and usability. The expected outcome is a pilot tool that can be shared under a “commons” license.
