PATH2PATIENT
Turn more research innovations into patient-ready therapies
About the project
Path2Patient aims to strengthen the ability of academia, healthcare, and the business-supporting innovation ecosystem in the Skåne–Blekinge region to accelerate the commercialization of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs). The project is led by LU Innovation in collaboration with SmiLe Venture Hub, Medicon Village Innovation, the LU-ATMP facility at Lund University, and Region Skåne’s ATMP Center.
Purpose
The project seeks to create better conditions for translating cutting-edge ATMP research into innovations that reach patients. By establishing new test and demonstration environments, and by making available key resources such as expertise, networks, and capital, the partners aim to support researchers and startups active within the ATMP field.
The long-term goal is to sustainably increase the number of new company formations, enhance the translation of world-leading research, and accelerate access to potentially curative ATMP treatments for patients with high medical needs.
Short description
Path2Patient will strengthen system-level collaboration between academia, healthcare, and industry actors. Within the project, partners will:
- Increase shared knowledge of ATMP-related challenges and opportunities.
- Build relevant networks across the regional innovation ecosystem.
- Develop and implement new processes, methods, and tools within novel test and innovation environments.
- Develop new business models to enable commercialization and speed up the Path to the patient
Together, these efforts will contribute to a stronger, more connected ATMP ecosystem and faster translation of research innovations into patient-ready therapies.
The project is co-funded by EU and Region Skåne.
